A note for Chris Jones from Harold Wood.

Chris, my ISP has had a major crash, a hardware problem I’m informed. All communication has been interrupted for over 48 hours now, but is due back shortly (!). Thus I of course cannot be sure if you received my email with the photograph of my father.

Technology… arrgh!

Hi All,

Perchance would any reader have photographs and or stories relating to the RAEME workshops which operated during WWII in Newcastle NSW? My father served there during that time. His name, Harold Raymond Wood. Harold died in 1991 aged 76.

I would be most grateful to be able to duplicate and restore for our (and other’s) family history archives any material some thoughtful souls may offer.

The Annual Reunion of the Society of the 173rd Airborne is to be held in Australia for the first time since the formation of the Society. This reunion will be the first to be conducted outside the United States.

The Host Chapter is Chapter XI, which is made up from NSW based members, of those who served in 1RAR Group, Bien Hoa, South Vietnam.

The reunion is to be conducted from 1 July to 9 July, 2005 and will be held at Panthers World of Entertainment Leagues Club, Penrith. Special rates have been given by Panthers for their adjoining motel run by Holiday Inns.

An extensive activity program has been formed to ensure all those Members and their guests from inter-state Australia and overseas attendees from New Zealand and the United States will be able, not only to attend a reunion, but enjoy true Australian hospitality.

Many ex serving RAEME members from the 1 RAR Gp, Bien Hoa, have already registered for the reunion.

Please note that attendees do not have to be a member of an Australian Chapter and may attend by paying the required registration fee prior to the reunion.

Full details of the reunion program, costs, method of payment, and conditions may be found on our Reunion Website

It is with regret that the NSW Association informs all RAEME members of the passing of our recently retired patron, Brigadier Roger Stuart Philip AMOS, RFD, ED. The Brigadier passed away on the 18 August 2003, at Mosman, NSW.

He was the dearly beloved husband of Kathleen, and the dearly beloved father of Jane and Ian. He was cremated at a private service.

He will be greatly missed by all that have known him, and he will not be forgotten. He was a guiding light to this Association over many years, he was one of natures true gentleman.

Lest We Forget.
